Alamo AACC educational foundation presents SAYLP – “San Antonio Youth Leadership Program”

The program for 2015 has bigger support from community and larger endorsement. Our chamber’s education foundation pioneered  this leadership program for middle school students 4 years ago and now we are ready to take it to newer heights

San Antonio Youth Leadership Program is a leadership program for middle school students that is jointly hosted with Communities in Schools. This program is modeled after LSA (Leadership San Antonio). The program cultivates and promotes leadership within middle school youth of our community.

SA Youth Leadership program is a week long program comprised of visits to at least 5 important pillars that fuel growth in the community.  The main purpose of the program is to provide a learning experience to students, 11-15 y/o, who live in the San Antonio Metropolitan area. Participants of the program are given an opportunity to experience and develop an understanding of:

Current and future pillars of San Antonio economy and what it takes to govern and facilitate this growth / evolution

Importance of higher education especially STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)

Living in a culturally diverse community

Importance of Community Service

How to be an effective and successful leader in a global economy

Understanding of Asian Culture and their influence on our local economy

Other Purposes:

In addition, this program

Aligns with the Mayor’s SA Vision 2020 initiative to promote “Go to College” initiative. Develop tools and resources to provide the youth with relevant information about the value of pursuing high school, college and higher education.

Expose the youth to the careers in different industries and professions and provide them with tools that they would need to succeed after college
